3DS Max Cell

The 3DS Max Cell's job is to make an animation that represents the team and a theme that was determined by FIRST. We are limited to thirty seconds in length and must complete the whole project in a little under six weeks.
The first step in the process is to brainstorm ideas. Once we agree upon a basic idea, we need to flesh it out and make a storyboard.
In order to make our animation we have to learn how to use 3DS Max, a really nice (expensive) animation program that is included in the Kit-of-Parts we get from FIRST. We had to start off by making the models for the objects in the animation. Then we play sorcerer by bringing these inanimate objects to life. Each scene is painstakingly crafted. To finish, we put them all together, add a slate and some credits, and after a full night of the computers chugging away to render, viola, we have our animation.
