Cleaning Up the Enviroment 904 Valenteering to Raise FundS for Orphans Students Collected Donations to Give to Toys-for-Tots A Couple of Team Member that Helped with Project Access(a Canned Food Drive) 904 Participated in Relay for Life and Helped Raise Money for Cancer Research Spreading the FIRST Word in a Parade

Over the 2006 summer vacation, the Creston 904 participated in and volunteered at the Relay for Life in Hudsonville Michigan. The relay is a cancer walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society. At the event, the public is educated about the cancer risks and current research and treatments. One thing they focused on was how cancer not only effects the person afflicted but everyone in their family.

The team also participated in a carnival for orphans and single families in Eaton Rapids, for the Veterans Foreign of Wars facility. We setup an inflatable bungee run. The funds raised benefited parents who keep the household going, and provide for their children. Watching the smiles light up on all the children's faces, made all the work worthwhile and gratifying.

At Metron of Forest Hills, a nursing home, 904 volunteered on a beautiful day to plant flowers for the occupants of the residence. Not long after we helped the Creston Neighborhood Association present a local car show. The Creston Neighborhood Association assists local non-profit organizations that improve the neighborhood.

The students also helped clean up the environment by going to Palmer Park and cleaning up Buck Creek. We worked with a group from our major sponsor GM to make the creek healthier, prettier, and happier.

We reached out to the homeless by running a canned food drive, Project Access, to restock local homeless shelters. And after Hurricane Katrina hit, Creston 904 partnered with the Pizza Hut Corporation to raise funds for the victims who lost their homes. And during the holidays we collected toys for the Toys-for-Tots foundation, who then wrapped and delivered the toys to needy children.

Creston 904 has volunteered time and effort to improve our community and our world. We feel this is important to do as a FIRST team and as good citizens.
